Valentine’s Day is almost here, and according to the National Retail Federation, consumer spending is predicted to reach an all-time high of $29 billion. The average person is spending $200 on surprises for loved ones, including romantic partners, family, friends, coworkers, and even pets. As customers prepare to express their love through gifts, local businesses are staying busy ahead of the holiday. Your News Now visited The FlowerLoft of Lima to learn more about what customers can expect.

For the local flower shop, preparations for Valentine’s Day begin months in advance, including purchasing flowers, greenery, vases, and gifts, and scheduling extra staff. Brian Joseph, owner of The FlowerLoft, says that red roses are still, and will likely always be, the favorite bloom for Valentine’s Day.

Michelle Etzkorn, salesperson at The FlowerLoft, commented on the fast-paced atmosphere around the busy holiday. However, Valentine’s Day can be quite rewarding.
